"Snow & Golf" is back, a unique combination in the world that combines giant slalom
on the Plateau Rosa glacier with a golf competition on the highest green in Italy.
From the dazzling white of the Plateau Rosa glacier to the intense green of the
Breuil basin, located 1,500 meters below.
These are the colors and scenarios, dominated by the unmistakable rocky
pyramid of the Matterhorn, of a unique event in the world: the combined "Snow & Golf".
On the 8th and 9th July Breuil-Cervinia hosts this competition again which,
despite its thirty years of life, never ceases to impress with its particularity
and the extreme contrasts that represent its strong point. The pairs competition,
which enjoys the patronage of the Italian Golf Federation,
takes place over two consecutive days and begins on the morning of
Saturday 8th July with the giant slalom, open to skiers and snowboarders,
on the slopes of Plateau Rosa (3,500 meters), summer training camp for
the great ski champions.
The rarefied air, the alpine peaks and the glaciers are a guarantee of a
unique experience. In the afternoon we will move downstream to try (by reservation)
the spectacular course of the highest green in Italy (2,050 metres), a PAR 69
of 5,300 meters set in a landscape that is second to none.
On Sunday 9th July the Cervino Golf Club, designed in the early 1950s by Donald
Harradine and expanded in 2006-2008 by Luigi Rota Caremoli, will be the scene of
the 18-hole Stableford formula golf competition, "Four balls the best", which will
to define the final classification.
The regulation provides that at least one of the two members of each team
takes part in the giant slalom, while the presence of both athletes on the green
is mandatory. The golf competition has no handicap limit and is open to members of
the Italian Golf Federation or of a foreign federation.
