The news in Cervino – Cime Bianche over the winter season 09/10 is the increase in the artificial snow system and the construction of an artificial dam with a capacity of 80,000 cubic metres of water that permits artificial snow coverage for the whole ski area of Cime Bianche, from the “Colle Superiore” pass right down into town.

This means constant opening of one of Europe’s most prestigious pistes, one of the longest of the Alps, the “Reine Blanche”. From Klein Matterhorn at 3,883 m asl, 20 km unwinding from the glacier of “Gobba di Rollin” and “Plateau Rosà”, over high mountain scenery and snow-covered pastures, through forests of larch to reach the village of Valtournenche at 1,574 m asl.
