For those who can’t ski, there are walks in places where silence reigns, near the town but far from the hustle and bustle, where you can listen to nature breathe, slowly and softly, like footsteps in the snow.
It is easy to walk from Cervinia to the Alpine soldiers’ chapel, a place of prayer that is easy to see from town. The country road rises gently and winds up the hill in a way that doesn’t tire out even those who aren’t habitual walkers. The walk from the centre of Cervinia to Lago Blu – a typical Alpine lake – is also beautiful and poses no effort as it is level all the way. Another lovely walk goes from Valtournenche to Plan de la Glaea, at the Valtournenche-Salette gondola lift station. It goes past a number of village hamlets that are still well preserved today.
