THE MAISONNETTE

(3 -7.5 – 10 km.)

The Maisonnette slope offers a very beautiful itinerary, fun and technical enough to gratify the different skiers. The track enters the woods on a path that cuts the side of the mountain gradually arriving at the 1774 meters of the Col des Bornes (halfway point of the ring). Here the view opens onto the central valley. For the 10 km loop, continue towards a clearing in the woods which then returns to the pass and from here to the starting point.

 

GRANDES MONTAGNES (20 km.)

Heading north from Plan Prorion, you reach the spectacular Grandes Montagnes slope (which can also be reached by cable car). It is a very long, entirely beaten path that leads to Lodetor pond and from here to Gilliarey.

 

The route runs along the inter-farm road which in summer leads to the pastures and offers a suggestive landscape to the eye: on the right the town of Torgnon and opposite the Matterhorn. Once you reach the lake, you can continue with a good uphill section and reach the 2169 meters of Gilliarey, one of the most panoramic points in the whole area. To the south you can admire the valley floor, to the north the imposing silhouette of the Matterhorn, below the valley of Valtournenche. From here the Plateau Rosa with its eternal snows will seem close at hand.
